Last Sunday March 13, 2016 was NOT just another day at work for Arvada, Colorado convenience store clerk Rebecca Montano. It started out normally enough, but then a young mother with a small baby in her arms walked in. Montano said she noticed the mom had a “glazed look in her eyes”, and as they approached the counter to check out, she could tell something was wrong.
Suddenly, the young mom started swaying, and a quick-thinking Montano reached out and grabbed the baby from her arms without hesitation. She tried to hold on to mom as well, but was unable to stop her from falling to the floor. Soon, a customer rushed up to help.
It turns out the mom had a seizure, and without Montano’s quick thinking, her baby could have been badly injured, hitting the counter or the floor in mom’s hard fall. Thankfully, both mom and baby are doing well.
Montano doesn’t think of herself as a hero, and she gets very choked up watching the video of her heroic deed. “It scared me,” she said through tears.
Thank God for giving Montano the intuition and the ability to think on her feet! She did get to meet mom and baby later in the week and get some well-deserved thanks in person. I love this story of how the ordinary people you meet wherever you go can change your life!
